Description of window repair and weather stripping technology

The proposed technology has been in use since July 1998 by REON-FM LLC, the first Russian enterprise specializing in window repair.
A distinguishing feature of REON-FM LLC is the introduction and popularization of a new type of service on the Russian market, window repair and weather stripping.

Description (Condensed)

         Window repair based on this technology requires mandatory removal of the window flaps. This is the only way to ensure the equally high-quality processing of all sides of the flaps and frame.
         Before removing the window flaps, the foreman determines the scope of work (makes a diagnosis): abutment of the flaps, lapping points, and marks on the frame each seal that needs to be installed in which place and which work needs to be done with the window flap. If the size of the gaps cannot be determined visually or using a mirror due to the close proximity of the frame or jamb, the gap dimensions can be determined using putty or plasticine in a polyethylene packet after application to the proposed gap and closure of the flap.
         Additional work is sometimes required: gluing of the weather strip between the inner and outer frames of the window flap of combined gap; caulking the gap between the window casing and the wall with assembly foam, installation of the handle, etc.
         When it is difficult to determine the window flap lapping site with the frame, tracing paper is used. All of the old weather stripping and nails on the flap perimeter need to be removed first.

Cutting the notch.

A notch is cut on the window flap on the upper rabbet and on the sides to the middle of the flap. The window flap is then turned by 180° and the cutting operation is repeated. During cutting of the hinge part, a 10 - 15 mm section from each edge of the hinge should be left. Contact with the steel hinge blunts or breaks the cutter. Window flaps, ventilating panes and balcony doors are cut from four sides, and the ventilating pane flap is cut from three sides.
It is convenient to put the weather strip on large window flaps and balcony doors immediately after cutting the notch so that the flap is not turned again.

Installation of Euro-Strip® weather stripping.

         The weather strip is placed on the cut flap with the butt towards the notch; the roller is rolled along the weather strip driving the butt into the notch. The rolling is done in small sections by counter motions to prevent contraction of the weather strip.
         The window pane is sealed with silica sealing compounds using a sealing gun onto a clean, dry and degreased joint between the pane and the frame from the side opposite to the beveling plane. Both window panes are sealed.
         When closing the lock, the handle should turn with a slight effort, pressing the float to the frame plane. If the frame catch runs into the stop strip when turned without reaching the slot, then it is necessary to move the strip. The strips are moved for height and depth as necessary, thus adjusting the degree of pressing the flap to the frame.
